Summer looks like it’s finally here as soon as the sun starts to peek from behind the clouds it’s only a matter of time before we start dreaming of lazy weekends spent outside enjoying the British weather with a glass of something cold and summery in hand. The go-to choice for years has been, Pimm’s No 1 and lemonade.
Everybody loves a glass of Pimm’s in the summer – and the classic recipe, with lemonade and fruit (see below), is always refreshing. But sometimes you need something just a little bit more exciting. Here is a slightly different recipe to try with the gin-based tipple.
PIMM’S CLASSIC
INGREDIENTS
- 1 part Pimm’s
- 3 parts lemonade
- Ice
METHOD
Mix all ingredients in a highball or half pint glass.
Garnish with orange, strawberry, mint and cucumber.
Try it with ginger beer
FRUITY PIMM’S CLASSIC
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cucumber
- 500ml/1 pint Pimms
- 1 litre/2pints lemonade
- 500ml/1 pint ginger beer
- zest of 1 orange
- a handful of mint leaves
- a handful of strawberries, washed and hulled
- ice cubes
METHOD
Chop the cucumber and strawberries into small pieces and add to a large jug.
Pop in the mint leaves, orange zest and ice.
Pour in the Pimms, lemonade and ginger beer and give it a good stir!
